Hi all -
The vote between renaming and status quo starts now. Anyone currently subscribed to either hudson-dev or hudson-users as of when I send this email out is eligible to vote. You can only vote once - if you vote multiple times, only your last vote will be counted. The voting will run for 72 hours, until noon PST on Saturday, after which I will announce the results.
In order to vote, please end an email to [hidden email] from an email address which is subscribed to one or more of the existing Hudson groups. Set the subject line of your email as follows:
- To vote for renaming, put "A" in the subject. - To vote for status quo, put "B" in the subject. Please put nothing else in the subject but A or B. Anything in the body of the message will be ignored.
When your vote is received, you'll get an auto-reply acknowledging its receipt. The votes will be private, accessible only to me and Winston, until after the voting finishes. At that point, I'll open up the Google Group to the public, so that everyone can see the voting results.
Please do *not* reply to this email with your votes. If you do, your vote will not be counted. Only send your votes to [hidden email]. Thank you.
A.

FYI, if you voted before now you didn't receive an acknowledgement email - I had a typo in the autoresponder email address. That's fixed now, but your votes are counted regardless.

If you are using multiple e-mail addresses like I am, be sure to send it from the address that's subscribed to the list. I believe the best way to check that is to go to your "edit my membership" page (either http://groups.google.com/group/hudson-users/subscribe or http://groups.google.com/group/hudson-dev/subscribe), and look under "Which address do you want to use for this group". If you are still unsure, I think you can check with Andrew beforehand. On 01/26/2011 12:00 PM, Andrew Bayer wrote: > Hi all - > > The vote between renaming and status quo starts now. If people keep asking if their vote arrived, we're going to get as much traffic on the list as if people just voted on the list...isn't there another way to determine if a vote has been received?

Some people appear to be reporting that they can't see the full e-mail address in their browser. The address to send to is hudson-jenkins-vote AT googlegroups DOT com (where AT is '@' and DOT is '.') I can confirm that the responder email is indeed working. One
[hopefully] minor issue is that I voted without being on the list.. Just discovered that I was still on the java.net list and never moved over! Let me know if I need to vote again - sorry about the confusion! Anyone can send in votes - but I'll be removing anyone from the totals who wasn't on the Google Groups as of noon today PST.

Hello,

Don't mean to add to the traffic, but is there a reason behind this? I am not usually subscribed to the lists (things Just Work - TM with, ahem, Jenkins), but nevertheless consider myself a part of the user community and have been following the threads for a few days now. Thanks. |

It would be good to explicitly state whether the votes will be made
public, since we are not using the typical +1 method of public voting. Yes, the votes will be made public once the voting has finished.

I second Kamals question about the reason for this. I've been following this discussion for days now and as a user i feel i'm part of the community even though i was not subscribed until now. I can understand that you need a registration of some sort and subscribing to the list is an easy way to have that. But removing anyone who wasn't subscribed by jan 27 12:00pst is not fair to anyone who may read this after that date. Could you please extend the deadline for subscribtions to say feb 1st 00:00 pst? I'd also like to see more than just the A/B published. Each voter should be able to give a short reasoning for the vote in the body. Maybe votes without a reasoning behind it should not even be counted? That would strengthen the outcome of the vote. Otherwise the 'losing' side could always say it was just a rigged online poll of some sort. I'm going to send in my vote now, hoping it won't be wiped. |
