Maven configuration not populating files from Config File Provider Plugin

Have installed the Config File Provider Plugin and created a user settings.xml file in there.  When I go back to my existing Maven jobs - or create a new one - the drop down for Maven Settings Config is empty.  Is there some configuration of the Maven plugin to grab those alternative settings.xml files or do I need to "publish" the file somehow that I might not have access to?
